I attended the Squiiz launch today in Brisbane and I must say I was impressed.
The first thing that I felt was the unity between the Real Estate industry leaders. Never has our industry seen such solidarity.
The site is crisp and clean and user friendly. There will be no banner ads, no highlights and no upsells. Properties will be listed according to when they were placed on the site. This makes it fair and it also makes for a better user experience.
The fees are affordable.
Will it work? If the agents support it – Yes. It’s up to us. This is not a magic pill… this will take work. It will take time.
Buyer enquiry will take a while to filter through. Expect that.
The site is new, they will build on the features. Expect that.
There will be teething problems. Expect that also.
For those that are looking for the negatives… remember to also look for the positives.
If we can make this easy and properties are automatically included to Squiiz with your bulk uploader, you won’t have to think about it. It will be done.
Our job then, is to sell our vendors on the site and educate our buyers. (Remember we did an awesome job for REA promoting them)
The app on Squiiz looks amazing. The catch cry is ‘Properties find you’…. I love it. Once you have the app loaded, the app will send you notifications of properties for sale that you drive past. Very cool.

Some are speculating this new website could affect REA as a business – will it? Probably not in the short term. We will have to see how much support the new site gets.
Very interesting times ahead.
The other thing to consider in all of this, never leave all your marketing eggs in one basket. Always be working on YOUR OWN internet presence.
